Sawmill Shows Holiday Spirit with Their Concert

Students at Sawmill performed for parents and teachers on Wednesday night.

Fifth graders at helped their families, friends and teachers get into the holiday spirit with their show on Wednesday evening.

The band, advanced orchestra, and chorus all participated in spreading holiday cheer to the assembled crowd for 45 minutes of auditory entertainment.

"We are extremely proud of the teachers and students for the tremendous efforts they've made in putting on such a wonderful performance," said Joseph Ierano, the acting assistant principal. Those efforts included the parents, as Mom or Dad had to wake up many an early morning to get the children in so they could practice to put on such a brilliant performance.

Following up the band  was the Advanced Orchestra, with Bonnie Foti taking on conducting duties. They performed traditional tracks "Mountain William" and "Barn Dance." To wrap up the evening, the chorus performed "Winter Snowflakes" and "A Festive Welcome," with Kristine Sottile conducting,  and Catherine Mahler providing the accompaniment.
