School Budget Meeting Thursday

Administrators will discuss athletics, facilities technology, transportation and more.

Commack School District will hold its second work session regarding the 2013-14 school budget on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the High School art gallery, following a regular board of education meeting at 7 p.m.

Agenda topics include athletics, facilities, transportation, technology, spending plans and recommended changes.

The Board of Education held its first workshop last Thursday, in which an estimated $179,482,949 million budget was put forth with a 3.43 percent tax levy increase. If approved, it would result in a tax rate increase of between $325 and $335 for the average homeowner.

The school budget meetings schedule is as follows:

March 14

Budget Work Session Discussion: preliminary proposed budget, detailed special education, elementary, middle and high school spending plans and recommended changes

March 21

Budget Work Session Discussion: undistributed costs and revenue stream

April 4

Budget Work Session Discussion: informal public budget hearing on the overall budget, community input

April 18

Regular public meeting and budget adoption, condensed overview of entire budget, community input

May 9

Regular public meeting and budget hearing

May 21

Budget vote and Trustee election

i believe the best way to locate your teacher is through the commack teachers association (cta).Read More contact the union president, tris stewart, and write a short note. include all the contact information you're comfortable with and wait a bit? 33 years is a long time. good luck.
