Accomplishment: Matthew's research in the field of Colorectal Cancer diagnosis has earned him a spot as a regional finalist in the national Young Epidemiology Scholars Competition.

Our latest Whiz Kid is making huge strides in the detection and treatment of colorectal cancer. As part of being chosen as a finalist for the competition, the Commack High School senior will travel to Washington, D.C. April 15 to 18 to present his research to a panel of leading experts in the public health field. If chosen for the top award, he could receive a $50,000 scholarship.
