Commack Couple Inducted into Long Island Junior Soccer League Hall of Fame

Doug and Gerry Anderson have volunteered their services to the league for years, reports Big Apple Soccer.

A Commack couple are among the newest members to be inducted into the Long Island Junior Soccer League Hall of Fame.

Big Apple Soccer reports that Doug and Gerry Anderson were inducted at a ceremony at the Huntington Hilton Friday, after years of volunteering for the league.

Doug served on the LIJSL Board of Directors as well as the registrar. Before files were computerized, the couple would spend many late nights organizing teams during soccer season, according to the report.

The Andersons also organized the Liberty Cup in the 1990s, which had participants from all over the world, including teams from the former Soviet Union.
