Commack Football Star Also Has Perfect SAT Scores

Paul Maline named scholar-athlete of the year by the National Football Foundation.

Commack’s Paul Maline isn't just a stellar athlete on the football field. He also has the brains to boot.

Maline was named Suffolk County’s 2012 top scholar-athlete during the National Football Foundation’s annual awards ceremonies last month.

Maline, who is an All-Long Island wide receiver and safety, carried a weighted GPA of 101.7. He is also the first winner of the award to hold perfect SAT scores in math and verbal, Leonard Genova told Newsday.

Before the awards, each Suffolk County coach submitted their selections for the “Golden Eleven,” an elite grup of scholar-athletes recognized by the National Football Foundation. Maline was chosen as the top scholar-athlete of the year of the bunch.

Maline plans to study engineering at Duke University.
