Commack Hoops Star Selected in First Round of WNBA Draft

Sammy Prahalis will head south to play for the Phoenix Mercury.

A Commack basketball star will be heading to Phoenix after being selected in the first round of the WNBA draft this Saturday. 

Big Ten reports that Samantha Prahalis has become the 14th Big Ten player in history to be selected in the first round of the WNBA draft. She was the sixth player chosen overall by the Phoenix Mercury. 

Prahalis, a standout player for Ohio State, was named Big Ten Player of the Year in 2012.  While at Ohio State, she helped guide her team to two Big Ten Championships and three conference tournament titles.
