A Commack hoops star is planning to return home to share her skills with young upcoming basketball players.
Newsday reports Sammy Prahalis will be hosting a basketball camp for girls ages 7 to 14 at this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Prahalis, point guard at Ohio State, is expected to be a top draft pick into the Womens National Basketball Association on April 16. She said she intends to work with young players to improve various aspects of the game and sit down to have lunch with the girls.
"It's just a fun day to spend with young girls who love basketball," said Prahalis to Newsday, who was the 2012 Big Ten Player of the Year. "I am doing it because I want to give back to the community. I don't remember anything like this when I was a kid, and that is another reason to do this.
Commack High School was the ideal spot for Prahalis to hold the clinic, as she is a Commack graduate.
