Varsity Hockey: Prepping for Quarterfinals

The Kings Park/Commack hockey team had trouble hanging onto second place as the regular season wound down. The team finished fourth overall and will face defending champion Middle Country, the fifth seed, in the quarterfinals Wednesday night at 9:00 at The Rinx in Hauppauge.

The Cougars basketball team had three players in double-figures in their 54-47 victory over Patchogue-Medford Thursday afternoon. John Stathis led all scorers with 16 points, and added eight rebounds. The team will finish the season with four games in 10 days, including three contests at home.

The Lady Cougars are looking to press on through the regular season, into the playoffs. A day after losing to Sachem East 56-37, Commack rebounded Friday with a 42-33 victory over Patchogue-Medford. Kerry Haller led all scorers in the victory, notching seven of her 11 points from the free throw line.
