Cougars Scoreboard: Baseball, Softball Win Pair of Games
Sports notebook for the week of April 29-May 6.
Baseball: The Cougars avenged a 2-1 loss to William Floyd on Monday by taking the next two games of the series to hang on to the top spot in League I at 10-4. The rubber game of the series went to nine innings before Keith Andrews' walk-off single gave Commack a 5-4 victory.
Softball: Commack's softball team edged out Sachem North, 5-4, for their second victory in as many days on Tuesday. After pounding Connetquot 18-8 on Monday, the Cougars needed an RBI single from Shayna Burgess in the bottom of the fourth to get past North. They sit at 9-3, in third place in League I.
Boys Lacrosse: David Murphy's three goals weren't enough to push the Cougars past Longwood on Wednesday as they fell 11-7. Commack dropped to 3-7 in League I and 5-7 overall, making any chance for a postseason bid slim.
