Cougars Scoreboard: Football Falls to Sachem East, Boys Soccer Wins Two

Sports highlights for the week of Sept. 18-Sept. 25

Football: The Cougars were unable to stop Sachem East junior running back Steven Casali as he broke out for a career-high 240 yards and three touchdowns as Sachem East . Brandon Cook's four-yard touchdown briefly tied the game at 7, but despite only trailing 12-7 at halftime, the Cougars were unable to generate much more offense.

Boys Soccer: Lee Manchino's second-half goal broke a scoreless tie and gave the Cougars their second victory of a grueling three-game week on Saturday, as they went on to defeat Longwood, 3-0. Earlier in the week, they knocked off Sachem East by the same margin. Jack Miller scored in that game for the Cougars.

Girls Soccer: Jessica Silverman's second half goal cut the Cougars deficit in half, but they were unable to find the equalizer yesterday against Sachem North, as they fell 2-1. Earlier this week, though, the girls downed William Floyd, 4-0, in their League I home opener. Erin Neville's two goals paced the Cougars, who are now 3-1.

However, just two days after taking down North, the girls fell at Sachem East, 2-0. Erin Morrissey made 14 saves against the Flaming Arrows, but a lack of offense doomed the Cougars, who fell to 3-1.
