Event Spotlight: Commack Baseball Kicks off Playoffs

The Cougars will take on Bay Shore Marauders at 4 p.m. Thursday.

The Commack varsity baseball team has won the League I title and is now setting its sights on the Class AA championship. The Cougars will host the Bay Shore Marauders in the first rough of the Class AA playoffs  4 p.m. Thursday at  

The Cougars emerged with a 13-5 record in League I play, and an overall record of 13-6 to be ranked No. 6. They will be home team in the first round and favored to win on Thursday.

However, Commack has not faced off against Bay Shore in regular season play. The Marauders are ranked No. 11 in postseason play after finishing with a 13-5 League II record, 14-6 overall record.

The winning team of Thursday's match will move on to play the winner of the No. 3 Eastport-South Manorville versus No. 14 West Babylon match on Friday. The loser will move down into the Losers' Bracket, entering a series of single-elimination matches.
