West Islip's Campasano Named Co-Captain at Monmouth University

Monmouth University senior and West Islip graduate Cassie Campasano has been named a co-captain for the 2014 women's lacrosse season by head lacrosse coach Denise Wescott. "I think the team chose great captains who can lead this group, are great role models, and can work with any of our players to help them when needed," said Wescott.

The Sayville Middle School Cheerleaders took first place in the LICCA Cheer Competition, held last Saturday at Rocky Point High School.
Smithtown students took aim at the sky and reached it as Great Hollow and Accompsett kicklines bring home top honors from recent competitions. Accompsett and Great Hollow Middle School's kickline and pom teams both took part in a Long Island Kickline Association competition held on Jan. 12.
Fresh off an outstanding cross country season, Miller Place is yet again set to dominate Suffolk County small schools.The team is, 5-0 beating Sayville, Mount Sinai, Shoreham, Elwood/JGlenn, and East Hampton. The team consists of a list of girls with standouts including Tiana Guevara, Talia Guevara, and Laura Nolan.
Seawolves Dominate in Win Over Binghamton
Stony Brook is now 11-6 overall and 3-0 in America East after a win over Binghamton Wednesday night. Senior Dave Coley, reached the 20-point mark for the second straight game as the Seawolves out muscled Binghamton 67-47.
‘Stretch’ Ryder Honored at Coaches vs. Cancer Event
Remembered as a dedicated father of a player and a fan who exuded class and support for every Vikings coach and player, "Stretch" Ryder was honored at the annual Coaches vs. Cancer basketball game Thursday at Schreiber.

Nine Calhoun Athletes Commit to College Teams
Nine student-athletes from Calhoun High School have committed to o playing at a college or university next year. Each student recently had an opportunity to talk about the decision-making process in selecting their school and discussed what they hope to accomplish at the next level at the next level during a letter of intent signing.
On Saturday evening the Garden City High School gymnasium turned back the clock for its returning basketball stars. The game was hosted by the Men's Association with Bob Basel and Mickey Paxton running the point for the evening.
Tom Schreiber a Top Pick in MLL Collegiate Draft
East Meadow native Tom Schreiber was the top pick overall in last week's Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft. Schreiber, a senior midfielder at Princeton, a two-time first team All-America selection and three-time All-Ivy honoree, was picked by the Ohio Machine, the Daily Princetonian reported.
