Runners Share Their Favorite Local Spots

Running trails can be found on both sides of Commack, and the surrounding towns.

If you're interested in changing up your workout for the summer, running locally might be a place to start.  According to Eric Gregson and Christina Goldrick, there are several places to run in the area.

The Commack High School track, located on Townline Road, provides a solid, safe area for you to run and a way to keep track of how far you go–each lap is 1/4 mile. Gregson uses the track 3 days a week and runs about six miles.

"The track helps me keep focused on running and not worry about whats going on around me," Gregson said.

Sunken Meadow Boardwalk, in Kings Park, is another local hot spot, according to Goldrick. Goldrick runs at Sunken Meadow because of the "cool beach breeze and the safe trails."

Mapmyrun.com, a website offering mapped out trails with distances and estimated run times, also has a few trails in Commack. The trails for Commack include locations in The Hamlet, by Hoyt Farm, an 11 mile Commack tour and a warm-up on Commack Road. If you create a trail in Commack that you like, you can also log it on this site for future use.
