A round-up of varsity sports for the week of April 8-14.

Baseball: Double Win Solidifies Top Record in League

Charlie Galiano has continued to provide offense for the Cougars, going 2-for-5 with four RBIs in this week's pair of victories over Sachem East. Galiano, who hit a home run and a double in the first game, drove in the eventual game-winning run with a fourth inning double on Thursday. Though Commack currently has the best overall record in League I (5-2), their conference record sits at 3-2, good for third place. They trail Ward Melville by only a half game and are tied in the loss column.

The boys and girls lacrosse teams have enjoyed a small amount of success this season, though both dropped two games this week. The boys team lost a pair of back-to-back road games to Middle Country and East Islip on Wednesday and Thursday, while the girls fell to North Babylon, 15-13 on Tuesday and followed it up with a 14-9 loss to Sachem East Thursday.

Both teams are middling in the bottom half of League I and have left themselves in a tough position to qualify for the playoffs.
