Four undefeated boxers gave fans a knock out performance and autograph session Wednesday at Modell's in Commack, in a preview event for Saturday night's fight at The Paramount, which will air on NBC Sports.
Chris Algieri, known as "The Fighting Pride of Huntington," is the local favorite. Algieri, of Huntington, is currently 15-0. He will take on Jose Peralta Alejo in the welterweight competition Saturday.
Also showing their skills on Wednesday were Cletus "The Hebrew Hammer" Seldin, Alan Gotay and Vyacheslav "Czar" Glazkov, of Ukraine, who will headline Saturday's fight night in the heavyweight competition against Malik Scott.
Seldin and Gotay will be featured among the five undercard bouts this Saturday night.
The fight at The Paramount will be Algieri's first televised performance. While the fighter already has a strong local following, the upcoming fight will give him the opportunity to make his mark on the national level.
"It's pretty exciting. This is really what I've been waiting for," he said.
He told fans to expect beautiful boxing, speed, power and most of all, "fireworks."
Seven bouts are planned for the Feb. 23 card to be held at The Paramount in Huntington. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. First fight is at 7:30pm.
The fight will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network's Fight Night and are presented by Main Events, Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Goossen-Tutor.
