TFCU & GrooveCars' Car of the Week: The 2010 Acura TL

For the month of September, TFCU and Groove Car are offering exclusive deals to make attaining your dream car even easier! And here is an even better deal- if you buy the Acura TL featured as the #CaroftheWeek, you’ll get a GPS Navigation System! Ask about Stock number 8646!

Before Toyota created Lexus and Nissan launched Infiniti, there was Honda’s Acura brand. Introduced to the world in 1986, Acura was the first Japanese Luxury brand, with the goal to rival Mercedes, BMW and Audi’s offerings. The experiment was successful, thanks to the blend of Japanese automotive reliability and precision craftsmanship.  Since the brand’s inception, Acura has marched to a different beat than its competition- tech forward, unique design.

The TL has a solid platform- it has the capable chassis of the American-market Honda Accord, and is powered by either a 3.5 liter V6, making a respectable 280 horsepower, or a 3.7 liter with a very Mustang-like 305 horsepower. Not bad for a luxury sedan to zip to 60 miles per hour in roughly five and a half seconds. Somewhere in the great beyond, the Acura NSX is proud.

Acura’s The TL uses electric power steering rather than hydraulic, and a revised five-speed automatic transmission featuring shift paddles on the steering wheel is standard equipment. The TL is a rather large sedan, which makes hauling kids, miniature poodles and whatever else you need a breeze. The TL’s wheelbase has been stretched 1.4 inches over the previous generations to 109.3 inches, while the car is also 6.2 inches longer overall, 1.8 inches wider and 0.5-inch taller. Rear legroom is ample, and rear shoulder room increases is decent as well.

As a Credit Union, TFCU offers Long Islanders rates on used and new auto loans that the other guys can’t touch. Be sure to check our offerings  (you can also call 631-698-7000 for more information about our auto loans!) and stop by the Groove Car Lease Return Resale Center (631)-787-7413.
