The Smithtown Youth Bureau and the League of Women Voters of Smithtown are now accepting applications for their Leadership in the Community program this summer, held on July 9, July 23, and August 6 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Any eighth, ninth, or 10th grade student residing in or going to school in the Town may apply for this program. Selected youth will build leadership skills, learn to set goals and plans, and develop presentation and communication skills. All participants will have the opportunity to design, lead and successfully complete a project from start to finish. Application forms can be downloaded at www.smithtownny.gov under the Youth Bureau Department.
The Youth Bureau is also offering other free programs on babysitting, dance, stranger awareness, changing family dynamics, self-esteem, bullying, leadership development, and dating violence.
