Coming Up: Chanukkah Party; Book Fair

A look at upcoming events and activities in Commack this week.

Happy Monday, Commack. Still in a Thanksgiving food coma? Here's a quick look at activities coming up in town to get you moving again.


Blazing Hanukkah Party
Fire eating, fire breathing, fire dancing and fire juggling will be performed at the Commack Jewish Center's Hanukkah bash, so stop, drop and make sure your family heads down to 83 Shirley Court at 5:30 p.m. Monday to celebrate.

Holiday Market 

Smithtown Township Arts Council and St. James Model Railroad Club will hold its annual Holiday Open House weekend Dec. 6 (from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Dec. 8  from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Mills Pond House in St. James. The weekend will feature the annual open house of St. James Model Railroad club, a Members Fine Art Showcase, a Granny’s Attic sale, and special sales of models, jewelry and more. Commack Encore Book Fair

Enjoy a special Polar Express Event for the little ones at during a book sale at Barnes and Noble to support the Commack Music Department. The event will be held Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. Between 5- and 10-percent of Barnes & Noble purchases will benefit Commack Encore, the department's booster club. Monies raised will be used to support the Commack Encore's  Dinner Dance event and scholarship.
