Common Core Workshops
The Commack School District has scheduled several workshops to introduce the new Common Core Standards to parents. An overview of the curriculum will be presented Monday at 7 p.m. at Burr Intermediate and Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Sawmill Intermediate.
Free Krav Maga Self Defense Demo
Former members of the Israeli Defense Forces will be demonstrating techniques of Krav Maga, a unique combination of fitness training and self defense at the Suffolk Y JCC Wednesday at 6 p.m. the class is open to adults, teens and tweens. The focus for the younger members of the class is based around anti-bullying, anti abduction, situational awareness and fun fitness. The adults will learn about
urban self defense, simple hand to hand techniques and fitness training.
Rainy Weather Ahead
Forecasters predict dreary weather for most of the week with showers Tuesday through Thursday. Temperatures are predicted to be in the mid-40s most of the week, with Monday reaching a high of 50 degrees.
