Coming Up: Election Day; Support Our Troops Week

A look at what's happening this week in Commack.

It's a big week for Commack residents.

Starting Monday, the Commack School District will begin its "Support Our Troops Week," in which students and staff members will be packing boxes for soldiers stationed overseas. The packages will be sent to U.S. soldiers for the holidays. Items needed include toiletries, sunscreen, new socks, breakfast bars, batteries and more. Boxes will be placed in all schools for donations. Bins will be picked up Nov. 8.

Tuesday is Election Day. Residents will be voting on the town Supervisor, town council members, highway superintendent, local judges and Suffolk County legislators. Voters will also decide if the state should allow up to seven non-Indian casinos to be built. Click here to see if you are registered, and find out where to vote.

There will also be an Israeli Art Expo Thursday at the Suffolk Y JCC on Hauppauge Road. More than 45 different Israeli artists will be featured.
