Commack Agenda: Fall Family Festival, India Fest

Check out what's happening around Commack this weekend, Sept. 13-15.

It will certainly feel like fall this weekend with temperatures barely topping 70, but there's no rain in the forecast and there's plenty going on around town for those looking to get out of the house.

Fall Family Festival

The Suffolk Y JCC will host a Fall Family Festival Sunday, starting at 11 a.m. Head down to the center at 74 Hauppauge Road for a day filled with activities, a petting zoo, bounce houses, parent/child softball, parent/preschooler soccer, toddler obstacle course, parent/child zumba entertainment and more. The cost is $5 per family. Proceeds will benefit Kamp Hope, a year- long program for children who have a parent diagnosed with cancer.

Live Music

Enjoy live music and entertainment this weekend at Perfecto Mundo in the Northgate Shopping Center (1141-1 Jericho Tpke., Commack). The music starts Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 8 p.m.

Hauppauge

India Fest

The India Association of Long Island is hosting its India Fest 2013at the Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature arts and crafts, Indian folk and classical dances, a fashion, Indian cuisine and appearances by Bollywood artists and elected officials. Free admission and parking. 

Smithtown

Heritage County Fair

Smithtown Historical Society invites all to the Heritage County Fair on Sunday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. This unique event features old-fashioned fun for the entire family with hay wagon rides, Revolutionary War & Civil War soldiers, ethnic dancers, childrens’ games, pony rides and more. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children.

Wizard of Oz 

Come celebrate the 75th anniversary of the “Wizard of Oz” at Smith Haven Mall on Saturday, from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Families with their children can participate in a variety of interactive “Wizard of Oz” activities including crafts, coloring, cut-out character photo opportunities and more.
