Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, which means an extra hour to enjoy your weekend. Here's a few things happening around town: 

HAUPPAUGE

Starlight Shopping Spree

Get a jump-start on your holiday shopping at the Starlight Shopping Spree.  There will be more than 30 vendors selling their merchandise in a festive and social environment.  Your ticket includes passed hors d'oeuvres, food stations, beer, wine & soda, and a spectacular dessert display. Friday 7 p.m. at the Upsky Hotel.

YarnCrafters Sale

The Friends of the Hauppauge Public Library will hold a YarnCrafters sale of hand knit gift items on Sat. from 10a.m. to 3 p.m. The YarnCrafters are a group of ladies who meet at the library to knit and they are donating all the proceeds of the sale to the Friends to benefit the Hauppauge Library. Nesconset Farmers Market

Open every Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., through Nov. 16, residents can come down to the shopping center at Nesconset Plaza, 127 Smithtown Blvd., for farm-fresh fruits, veggies and homemade goods.

Nocturnal Wanderings

Join Sweetbriar Naturalists for an evening with owls and other creatures of the night. Participants will meet two of our resident owls, an opossum, and a couple of other nocturnal wanderers. Then go on a night walk at the preserve to call some of our wild owls and then return for a warm drink. Heavy rain cancels. Friday from 7- 9:30 p.m. at Sweetbriar Nature Center. $5/person for members & scouts, $6 for non-members. Adults and teenagers only. 

Zumbathon Benefit for Lucia Ferraro

Lucia Ferraro is 26 years old and battling severe Crohn's Disease. Her Zumba family is trying to raise money to send her to the Cleveland Institute, so that they can diagnose the severity of her condition and how to help her best. $25 donation per dancer. Held at Saint James Methodist Church in St. James Saturday at 2 p.m. Any questions call Barbara at 398-0067.
