COMPLETE GUIDE: 'Taste North Fork' Set for Veterans Day Weekend

Events and specials set up across Long Island's wine country.

The "Taste North Fork" event, organized to bring tourists to the area during the off-season on Veterans Day weekend, is almost here, and will be packed with events giving Long Islanders from across the region opportunities to wine and dine in this local jewel.

Here's our complete guide to the festival:

A free “Taste North Fork” shuttle service will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 9 and 10, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11.

Passenger pick-up service will also be available from the Mattituck Long Island Railraod train station, the Cross Sound Ferry terminal, and Tanger Outlet 2, by Office Max, in the parking lot. Program Shuttle Stops are marked (S).

Wineries involved, as well as activities planned, include:

Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard: “A Salute to our Veterans!” A barbecue, a red, white and blueberry shortcake bar, discounts for veterans and live music all three days. 2114 Sound Avenue, Baiting Hollow (S).

Greenport: Taste Greenport event features special events at local shops, galleries, restaurants, Mitchell Park and marina. Stroll the village streets and harbor in one of America’s prettiest historic maritime towns, and richest agriculture/aquaculture centers. Meet the chefs, farmers, vintners, baymen, historians, artists, and musicians of the East End’s North Fork. Tastings, flights, pairings, demonstrations, classes and events.

Events include the Malt & Mollusks event, oysters and finely crafted local ale; land and sea dinners with local chefs, farmers and vintners; cooking classes with master chefs, kids' cooking classes, holiday wine and spirit tastings, book signings, family events, demonstrations on candle making canning, herbal remedies, yarn spinning and dyeing with natural local flora and more.  (S)
