Since Ralph Silvestro came from Italy to New York and established his ice business in 1928, the family has continued the tradition of using fresh, natural ingredients to create inexpensive and refreshing cold treats that are sure to please the entire family. One of a dozen area locations, the Commack shop features a walk-up window and dining room where you can pick up ices, smoothies, shakes and low-fat ice creams. Flavors include strawberry, vanilla, chocolate and butter pecan. Or, try one of the more exotic flavors such as Malibu bay breeze, Mississippi mud, crazy coconut, blue Hawaii, cherry bomb or frozen lemonade. Ask about the ice cream trucks, which are available for special events.
