How is the driver of the bus endangering them? Would you rather have 40 drunk teens drivingRead More themselves?
Cheap Sam April 20, 2014 at 11:51 am
Really? He allowed minors to bring the alcohol on the bus. The larger problem is thatRead More "Parents" don't parent anymore and the drinking, and drugs along with the teen sex has totally run out of control. It all has now become an accepted behavior. Kids are drinking at 12, 13 and 14 so by the time they are into high school they are full blown alcoholics. Where are the parents? All they have to do is check the kids social media outlets and you can find who, when and where the kids are going to drink or just check their social media the next day and you will find numerous pictures of the past nights events. It's so easy yet it goes on week after week after week. Where are the parents? Probably drinking themselves. Monkey see monkey do!

I feel sorry for the person that died, but I see it all the time, whether it's in Halesite or up inRead More Huntington Station, people just walk out into the street on NY Ave like they own the road. Especially by all the Bodegas. People hanging out drinking and then darting into the road. Not sure what happened in this case.
Ann Darcy April 19, 2014 at 12:16 pm
A man is killed in Halesite and the above poster drags in bodegas, the Station and drunks. Hard toRead More see the connection there. If you are not sure what happened, what's the purpose of your comment?
CAPICU April 19, 2014 at 04:35 pm
Chrissy F...I'm with you on that .The police department needs to enforce Jaywalking Laws. The area inRead More Huntington Station you mention is an area just waiting for another accident to happen.Often you find drunk man standing in the middle of the road and people running across the street showing no regard for their safety and others. Police and Fire department only show up to clean up the carnage after the accident, but no enforcement of the jaywalking laws is ever enforced. The only thing they do is give tickets to anyone driving in that area for a day or two.I do regret what happened to Mr. Jose Lucero and do not accuse him of being reckless or at fault for the tragedy inflicted upon him.

You know as much as the NYS Troopers can be pricks, you've got to give them some credit. When theyRead More set up speed traps they get OUT of their cars with radar guns and actually point it at cars, then have a chase car down the road. Unlike most PD's, when they hand you that ticket you have to appreciate the effort that went into it.
Scott Peterson April 18, 2014 at 11:29 pm
In my experiences, the State Police I've encountered in my travels across the country have alwaysRead More displayed a level of courtesy and professionalism I've often found wanting in smaller organizations. I've never encountered a prick as I define the term though were I to include the term to mean one who seemingly allows no exceptions, I could see the term as valid.
knee jerk April 19, 2014 at 09:07 am
Well put definition Scott, seemingly describing Maryland State Troopers to a tee.

Blame the driver...again selfish trying to put the blame on others.....the driver was notRead More drunk........I bet the parents sue the limo company
brookhavenconfucius April 19, 2014 at 09:01 am
Carolyn April 20, 2014 at 10:46 am
The problem is widespread on Long Island. It happens after every prom, junior and senior. It's aRead More shame that this limo driver will be charged, and his life ruined. Yes, it is sanctioned by many parents, due to the desire for their kids to feel "normal". It's that widespread. I think it's time we hold the kids responsible for their own behavior. 42 kids drunk at 16 and 17 ... make them put in some serious time volunteering over the summer. A financial consequence will only hurt the parents. Or perhaps the stain on their record can keep them from obtaining a drivers license until the age of 21. They are old enough to know what decisions they are making. The kids know there will be no consequences for their actions.

Hey Mike R: It says UP TO $5,000 reward, which means they could give you 25 cents also. Now, on theRead More other hand, if they were looking for the "King of Clubs" or perhaps the "Jack of Hearts".........
Mike R April 16, 2014 at 06:49 pm
Hahaha yeah, trust me I'm not naive enough to believe that i would have actually gotten the 5kRead More reward. Regardless i would've called it in if they hadn't caught the guy already. News 12 said he was taking A 'selfie' in the halls. It was some sort of a game in his eyes. I would assume comparable to how a graffiti artist leaves him mark on hard to reach buildings. Crazy lol

Archie Bunker- I think you need to take a refresher math course. They wanted to sell the stock inRead More 2010, and contacted the police in 2011. Not sure how your math turned that into "2 years to report it" Taking into account that different years can be as little as one day apart, and I'm sure they spent some time waiting for the nonexistent check to arrive, and trying to get in touch with him. So the only remarkable thing about that is your math skills, or lack of.

Mike C Moran April 1, 2014 at 11:32 pm
It's sickening to know that the sex offender registry allows offenders to have facebook accountsRead More just as long as they're reported. It just reassures me how messed up this world, state, government really is. Sex offenders should not be placed in areas where families with little children live in and should not be allowed to have access to any sort of social media. They should be isolated from communities that house little children and have 24 hour supervision to monitor what they are doing minute by minute but then again would moron cuomo really supply the money for that sort of safety. None of my children will have facebook accounts while they're younger than 17.
