New York's two United States Senate Seats are have been filled by some of the most influential politicians in our country's history, representing a highly populated power base that remains an economic powerhouse in the nation. Like all Senate seats, terms last six years except in the case of special elections.

This year, incumbent Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand will run for her first full term as a Senator. The former congresswoman was tapped by former Gov. David Paterson in 2009 to fill the seat vacated by Hillary Clinton.
