Commack North Little League Receives Life-Saving Device

An AED machine was donated by Sports Authority and capped off a safety presentation.

Nobody wants to imagine the terror of a child going through cardiac arrest. Fortunately, thanks to a donation of an automated external defibrillator from , Commack North Little League will be prepared should the event arise.

The sporting goods store's March 30 donation of the device, also referred to as an AED, came after a safety presentation at the Sports Authority in Commack by Michael Schwartzberg, a representative from Cardiac Science. Marguerite Valinoti-White of Sports Authority, presented the gift.

The presentation featured a demonstration of the life-saving capabilities of an AED machine, as well as CPR and basic emergency protocols. Schwartzberg was assisted by Commack North Little League President Mike Campione and Safety Director David Reiff.

The importance of an AED machine is hard to overstate: In an emergency, it can assist during a cardiac arrest or an arrhythmia and save an individual's life.
