Jan. 18 is Girls Basketball, Pavarotti Discussion, and Volunteering

Do something different today, like one of these events.

There's a mix of eclectic events happening which will appeal to every age. Kickstart your Tuesday with one of these events:

1. : 's varsity girls basketball team takes on Brentwood. Get to the gym before tipoff at 6 p.m. and be ready to cheer the Cougars on.

2. : Cantor Don Goldberg will be at the to discuss the life of vocal legend Luciano Pavarotti. In addition to a rundown of Pavarotti's accomplishments, Goldberg will play some rare recordings of the "King of the High Cs." The talk begins at 2:30 p.m.

3. : So what if there is snow on the ground? is open every day, rain or shine (or blizzard). Come see 133 acres of gorgeous parkground, animals and playgrounds. The Park opens at 9 a.m.

4. : Now this is just getting silly--The National Weather Service is predicting more snow. Fortunately, this time it's only a dusting, with an inch forecasted. The advisory lasts until 1 p.m. Tuesday.

5. : Teenagers can give an hour of their time, starting at 7 p.m. at the of the , to make a craft which will then be donated to seniors and less fortunate children.
